The 10th Vatsalya Award for the year 2015-2016 was presented to Dr. Ramesh Patri for his exemplary children’s literature writing in Odia language. The Award was presented by Shri. Vishwas Patil (IAS Officer and eminent Marathi writer) and Shri Raj K Purohit (Cabinet Minister, Maharashtra) in the presence of our Chairperson, Smt. Padma Binani and all the Governing Council members of the Foundation at the Hall of Culture, Nehru Centre on the 27th February 2018.
The Foundation also released the book, 'Sanchayan', a collection of articles penned by Smt. Padma Binani and two music albums, 'Pranay Saurabh' and 'Pranay Sutra' comprising of traditional Rajasthani music.
The 9th Vatsalya Award for the year 2014-2015 was presented to Prof. T.S. Nagarajaji Setty for exemplary children’s literature writing in Kannada language. The award was presented by the Honourable Governor of Maharashtra, Shri C.H. Vidyasagar ji Rao in a warm function held at Raj Bhavan on 7th April 2017. Prof. Settyji expressed his gratitude for his felicitation with the Vatsalya Award and termed it as a nobel initiative towards encouraging and promoting children’s literature writers.
Foundation co-ordinator Smt. Suruchiji Mohta convened the programme while Governing Council member Smt. Ushaji Toshniwal proposed the vote of thanks.
Shri. Rajji K. Purohit graced the occasion with his presence and spoke a few kind words introducing the Foundation and its work.
The elegant and dignified function was conducted successfully under the guidance of Smt. Padmaji Binani, Shri Chandramohanji, Shri Indrakumarji Pugalia, Dr. Ramji Tiwari and Shri. Brajmohandasji Mundhra.
The 8th Vatsalya Award for the year 2013-2014 was presented to Dr. B. L. Mali in a warm function held at Jaipur. On behalf of Padma Binani Foundation, Shri R M Joshi, the executive director and head of Rajasthan Cement Operations, felicitated Dr. B. L. Mali for his contribution to children's literature in Rajasthan language.
The 7th Vatsalya Award 2012-2013 took place at the Hall of Culture in Nehru Center at Worli where Smt. Sumangala was presented with the award.
Shri. Raj K. Purohit was the chief guest and Shri. Vishwanath Sachdeva was the honorable special guest.
For the year 2012-2013, the Vatsalya Award Committee had chosen the Malayalam language. A Jury Committee comprising of Prof. M. Thomas Matthew, Prof. A. Arvindakshan and Dr. P. V. Krishnan Nair along with the Director of Vatsalya, Dr. Ramji Tiwari, met at Binanipuram in Cochin, Kerala to shortlist five writers from an overwhelming response of 77 entries in all.
The eminent Jury Committee shortlisted the following five writers in merit order

Shri. S. Sivadas
Smt. Sugatha Kumari
Considering the recommendations by the Jury, the Vatsalya Award for Malayalam language was awarded to Smt. Sumangala owing to her qualitative and quantitative achievements.
About Smt. Sumangala
Smt. Sumangala is a celebrated and widely accepted writer in Malayalam Language, exclusively dedicated to children's literature. She has been regularly contributing to children's literature for the last 53 years and has left an everlasting impression on the younger generation. Her writing is mostly based on Indian tradition and Indian mythology, aiming at character building, socialization and moral strengthening. Considering the educative value of her works, they are popularly included in the textbooks. Her works have been translated in different Indian languages. Her lucid and pleasant style has created a very sublime and inspiring impact. She has been awarded with many prestigious awards at different levels. Padma Binani Foundation feels highly honoured to offer her the Vatsalya Award.
The 6th Vatsalya Award 2011 was presented to an eminent Konkani writer Smt. Meena Kakodkar at a dignified function organized at the Garware, Banquet Hall, Mumbai.
It was presided over by Shri. Dilip Walse Patil Honorable Speaker of Maharashtra State Assembly, Mumbai. Shri. Raj K. Purohit, MLA was the special guest.
At this event a music album containing songs on India and its states, titled 'Bharat Darshan' and a book 'Mahabharat A-Z' was released in the scope of 'Suranjali' and 'Akshar' wings of Padma Binani Foundation respectively. This was followed by refreshments. The function was largely covered by the print and electronic media.
The Vatsalya Award 2010 was presented to Shri Sailen Ghosh by Smt. Padma Binani, the chairperson of Padma Binani Foundation and was felicitated at a graceful function at 38 Strand Road, Kolkatta with the Vatsalya Award cheque of Rs One Lakh.
The members of the Padma Binani Foundation, Kolkatta, Smt. Pooja Poddar, Smt. Ranjanabai Newar, Smt. Pushpabai Mundhra, Smt. Jyotibai Bagri, Smt. Alpana Binani & Smt. Pratibha Binani were present to receive the dignified awardee on behalf of the Padma Binani Foundation Governing Council members. A bouquet of flowers was presented to him and snacks were served. Over an informal gathering and warm discussions with the highly qualified and senior literary personality, Smt. Padma Binani soaked in her learned presence and received mature advice for the foundation. Shri Sailen Ghosh was highly appreciative of the great work that Padma Binani Foundation is doing for the cause of childrens' literature and suggested that the award should be widely publicized so that more and more awareness is created about the important role of childrens' literature, as well as the highly noble work that the foundation is doing.
The Vatsalaya Award 2009 was presented to Gujarati writer Prof. Dhiruben Patel at a gracious event of the Founders day function of Binani Industries Ltd at Goa. It was presided over by Shri. M. V. Kamath Chief Minister of Goa, and other special guests were Dr. S. S. Siddhu, Governor of Goa, Shri. Nana Chudasma and Shri. P. S. Pasaricha. The award event was followed by lunch.
The Vatsalya Award 2008 was given to an eminent Marathi writer Prof. Shri. Anant Bhave at a glittering function organized at Taj President, Mumbai. The function was presided over by Shri Ashok Chavan, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and other eminent guests were Shri. Dilip Walse Patil and Shri. Nana Chudasama. At this event a music album for children titled 'Nanhi Kiran' and a book 'Bharat Darshan' was released in the scope of Suranjali and Akshar respectively. This was followed by dinner. The function was largely covered by the print and electronic media.
The Vatsalya Award 2007 was given to Lion Dr. Poovanan for his exemplary contribution to children's literature in the Tamil language.
The dignified function was presided over by Chief Justice Shri. Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari whereas Smt. Indu Shahani, the Sheriff of Mumbai graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
