Release of music albums ‘Pranay Saurabh’ and ‘Pranay Sutra’

The Foundation released two music albums, Pranay Saurabh and Pranay Sutra amidst much appreciation at the hands of Shri. Vishwas Patil (IAS Officer and eminent Marathi writer) and Shri Raj K Purohit (Cabinet Minister, Maharashtra) in the presence of our Chairperson, Smt. Padma Binani and all the Governing Council members of the Foundation at the Hall of Culture, Nehru Centre on the 27th February 2018.
These albums contain exclusive wedding songs in Rajasthani language and have been composed by the great lyricist-musician Shri Gajanan Varma.
Dhrupad Recital Programme

The Foundation conducted a joint programme with the Music Department of SNDT Women’s University, Churchgate. The programme consisted of a Dhrupad recital by Shri Manojji Saraf with Shri Sukhadji Munde on the Pakhawaj.
The form of Dhrupad gayiki has a rich musical history and is disappearing fast into oblivion. This recital was an effort to encourage both the artists and the listeners to enjoy and experience the beauty of Dhrupad.
Shri Manojji Saraf has trained under the renowned Dhrupad guru and vocalist Ustad Zia Fariduddun Dagar and specializes in the correct rendering of Dhrupad in the Dagarbani style. He has been awarded the National Scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resource development, Government of India.
Shri. Sukhadji Munde is the son of great Pakhawaj Maestro Pt. Manikji Munde. He trained under his father and other great gurus such as Bhakt Ganeshji Anna Choudhary and Prof. Pt. Govindraoji Deshmukh. Sukhadji has performed in various Music Conferences & Festivals in India as well as abroad.
The programme was graced with the presence of Smt. Shashikalaji Wanjare, the Vice Chancellor of SNDT University, Dr. Sangeetaji Bapat, HOD, Music Department, Smt Suruchiji Mohta and the esteemed faculty of the Music Department along with other guests.
Smt. Shashikalaji Wanjare spoke about the Foundation and the importance of its work through its various wings Akshar, Suranjali and Vatslaya
Students enjoyed the performance thoroughly and it was a huge learning experience for all of them. Manojji asked questions to the students about the various facets of Dhrupad gayiki and explained to them in detail about the finer nuances. Sukhadji also fielded various questions on the origin of the Pakhawaj and how it is different from the tabla and the mridangam.
Release of Parivritta Album

The Parivritta CD was released amidst much appreciation by the Honourable Governor of Maharshtra, Shri CH Vidyasagarji Rao in a warm function held at Raj Bhavan on the 7th April 2017.
It is a compilation of poems written by Smt. Padmaji Binani over the years.
Foundation co-ordinator Smt. Suruchiji Mohta convened the programme while Governing Council member Smt. Ushaji Toshniwal proposed the vote of thanks.
Shri. Rajji K. Purohit graced the occasion with his presence and spoke a few kind words introducing the Foundation and its work.
The elegant and dignified function was conducted successfully under the guidance of Smt. Padmaji Binani, Shri Chandramohanji, Shri Indrakumarji Pugalia, Dr. Ramji Tiwari and Shri. Brajmohanji Mundhra.

On the auspicious occasion of Ramnavmi, on the 4th April, 2017, Smt. Suruchiji Mohta, a well-known vocalist, presented the Ramkatha in a new unique style through a combination of storytelling and singing at the Y.B. Chavan Auditorium.
The program was produced by the Padma Binani Foundation and was being presented by the Rajasthani Mahila Mandal.
It was well attended and appreciated with more than 350 guests. Smt. Suruchiji Mohta’s mellifluous voice and rendition invoked a feeling of immense devotion leading everyone through a sublime journey of Ram bhakti.
Jasarangi Jugalbandi Programme

The Foundation conducted a joint programme (Suranjali Goshti), with SNDT Women’s University, Churchgate.
It was a very exciting and exhilarating experience of a male and female vocalist singing two ragas on two different octaves at the same time known as the "Jasarangi Jugalbandi".
The opening recital was by Rutuja Lad. Ankita Joshi, a talented singer and the youngest disciple of Pandit Jasrajji was accompanied by Krishna Bhongane, a student of Ustad Rashid Khan. They performed three combinations of ragas, primarily Rag Lalit-Rag Todi, Rag Puriya-Dhanshree along with Rag Basant and finally Rag Madhuvanti- Rag Nat-Bhairavi. The entire team comprised of very young, talented and promising musicians.
The audience consisted of about 50 people including eminent academicians, Director BCUD, the HOD of Mumbai University, professors, musicologists and students from the Music department.
The Foundation stall evinced a lot of interest among the visitors and people expressed their appreciation for the work that it does and were keen to collect our flyers and brochures.
Kajri Music Programme

Padma Binani Foundation conducted a Kajri Music Programme in collaboration with the Hindi Mumbai Patrakar Sangh under the musical wing, Suranjali at the Rajasthani Mahila Mandal Hall.
Kajri is derived from the Hindi word Kajra, or Kohl and is a genre of semi-classical singing, popular in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Shri Sureshji Shukla enthralled the audience with his rendition of different Kajri compositions. The Chairperson of the Foundation, Smt. Padmaji Binani was felicitated by Shri. Adityaji Dubey, the President of Mumbai Patrakar Sangh. Several other prominent journalists and social workers were felicitated and gifted with books published by the Foundation.
The programme was graced by the presence of Smt. Padmaji Binani, Dr. Ramji Tiwari, Smt. Suruchiji Mohta, Shri Adityaji Dubey, Shri Shirishji Upadhyay and several other eminent Editors and Senior Journalists from several publications.
Baalo Marudhar Des - Rangeele Rajasthan Ka Ek Sureela Lokotsav

On the auspicious occasion of Holi and Gangaur, Padma Binani Foundation had organized a cultural program, "Baalo Marudhar Des- Rangeele Rajasthan ka Ek Sureela Lokotsav" at Y B Chavan Auditorium on 29th March 2016.
Songs of Holi- Dhamaar, Shringaar and Gangaur as well as folk dances from the land of deserts- famous for valour and love, were presented by traditional artistes from the hinterland under the guidance of Dr. Shrilal Mohta from Bikaner.
It has always been the endeavor of Padma Binani Foundation to revive and preserve the old Indian traditions and bring to fore the fun and the joy associated with these traditions. This program was taken up by the Foundation to familiarize the urban audiences with the melody of traditional music in Rajasthan.
Shri Raj K. Purohit, Smt Leela Bai Somani and Smt. Yashoda Bai Mohatta graced the occasion by their presence.
The program was successfully conducted in the presence of Chairperson Smt Padma Binani, Governing Council Members Smt Usha Toshniwal and Shri Indra Kumar Pugalia while the Executive Panel was represented by Dr.Ramji Tiwari,Smt Suruchi Mohta, & Shri Brajmohandas Mundhra.
Release of Humein Nand Nandan Mol Liyo & Bhaj Man Ram Charan Sukhdayi

On 4th December 2015 Padma Binani Foundation released three music albums created under its musical wing Suranjali. Two music albums titled, "Humein Nand Nandan Mol Liyo" and "Bhaj Man Ram Charan Sukhdayi" are based on the compositions of divine saint poets Sant Soordas and Goswami Tulsidas.
A third music album titled "Kaise Khele Jaibu Sawan Me Kajariya" composed by Smt Kaumudi Munshi and based on the folk songs of Uttar Pradesh was also released. This music album is an attempt to archive the traditional folk music of Uttar Pradesh.
All three music albums were launched at the hands of Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vishveshvaranand Giri ji Maharaj in a dignified function. Governing Council Members Shri Chandramohanji, Smt Ushaji Toshniwal and Shri. Indrakumarji Pugalia were also present.The Executive Panel was represented by Dr.Ramji Tiwari,Smt Suruchiji Mohta,Smt Sralaji Mohtta & Shri Brajmohanji Mundhra.
On this occasion Smt Kaumudiji Munshi was felicitated for her contribution to the field of semi classical music at the hands of Smt Padma Binani.
The release was followed by a classical musical program by Shri Hemang Mehta. Shri Brajmohanji Mundhra conducted the program. The function was well attended and well received.

On the occasion of Janmashtami, Suranjali, the musical wing of Padma Binani Foundation, organized a musical program featuring Dhrupad compositions based on the life and legend of Lord Krishna.
Dhrupad has its origins in the singing of Sama Veda, and is considered the oldest surviving form of Hindustani Classical Music. This traditional form of music was performed by a generation of young artists, Sagar Morankar, Meghana Sardar and Prassanna Vishwanathan. Trained by renowned Dhrupad maestro Pt. Uday Bhavalkar, they are scholars of ITC-SRA. Pratap Awad accompanied on pakhawaj while Rucha Kshirsagar accompanied on the tanpura.
The program was conceived by member of PBF Executive Panel Shri Anup Jalan. He eloquently conducted the show and also sang a melodious rendition.
The program was well attended, and the audience liked the music very much. For many of them, it was the first exposure to this traditional music. They appreciated being provided with the lyrics and the short explanation before each composition, which enabled them to enjoy the music better. Many requested that such programs be held regularly. Even the experienced listeners of Dhrupad appreciated the performances and thanked PBF for providing a platform to young talent.
Eminent personalities like Smt. Rajashree Birla, Smt. Leela Bai Somani, Smt. Vijaya Piramal, Shri. Sharad Saklecha, and eminent musicians like Smt. Nancy Lesh Kulkarni and Smt. Kaumudi Munshi graced the occasion by their presence.
Launch of Haveli Sangeet

On the occasion of Holi festival, Padma Binani Foundation organized a musical feast for the music lovers and connoisseurs with Haveli Sangeet as the central theme. Haveli Sangeet, incorporated in the daily worship of Lord Krishna, is a semi classical form of Hindustani classical music with 'Dhrupad' as an important element.
The Tailang brothers, Shri Gokulendu and Shri Gaurav Tailang, experts in Haveli Sangeet, left the audience enchanted by their heavenly rendition based on 'Pushti Margi Krishna Leela'. They sang beautiful 'Padas' setting up a wonderful mood for Holi.
On this occasion the stalwarts of music Shri. Ravindra Jain, Shri Shekhar Sen, Shri. Uday Bhawalkar and Shri Anup Jalota released three CDs on Haveli Sangeet created by Suranjali, the musical wing of Padma Binani Foundation.
Ram Bhakti Sangeet
A unique program of songs based on Lord Rama's story was presented by Smt. Suruchi Mohta in the presence of music and mythology connoisseurs. The concept that various characters from Ramayana who are ardent devotees of Lord Rama express their feelings about Him through songs was appreciated by the audience.
Launch of Bharat Darshan Vol-I
A music album titled 'Bharat Darshan- Part 1' based on Smt. Padma Binani's book Bharat Darshan was released at the hands of the Honorable Speaker of Maharashtra Shri. Dilip Walse Patil during the Vatsalya Award function. The album comprises of a variety of musical renditions about Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu- Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh and Uttaranchal.
